First time here. The location on the river was beautiful today. Sitting outside by the water was a great place for food and drinks. Service was fast and friendly, the food was very good. The guacamole was excellent! Highly recommend it. I had enchiladas which were very good. The rice and beans are standard Mexican restaurant fare. I did try there D'Lua red ale. Not for me, it was way to sweet. If you want a sweet beer then maybe you will like it. Second beer was standard Dos Equis. They are always good. Everyone else at the table enjoyed there meals. My daughters green burrito she ordered was massive, so bring an appetite for that one.
Priced about average for a nicer place. 4 people with dinner, drinks, and tip $90.00. I would eat here again any time.
Dined at D’Lua’s on the river this week. Had queso and then the Birria Ramen. The food was very good, the Margaritas were, too. Our server and the host were great! Will dine there again and plan to also try their breakfast offerings.
UPDATE: came back for breakfast. It was delicious. So, been twice in one week. Looking forward to dining here again next time I visit.
This is my first time having lunch but third time eating here. I love the servers even when the are short staffed they make the experience great. The food comes out timely and is so good.
One of the best places in the quad cities to get authentic Mexican food with a fusion cuisine of American style breakfast until 11:30. The best QuessaBirria Tacos hands down. Friendly staff and the owners are absolutely amazing. This location has one of the best views for a family event, or just a 1v1 date. Highly recommend
Since being back in the Iowa QCA, I really like many of the businesses along the Riverfront or close by. This includes those in downtown Bettendorf, the Freight House Farmer's Market area along Davenport, and locations in Moline and Rock Island. This particular area that this D'Lua occupies is pretty unfamiliar to me, but I like the Bettendorf location and wanted to try this one for breakfast today.
The building looks small on the outside - that impression stayed with me as I entered, as well. It's not claustrophobic for me by any means, but rather a bit cozy, even warmer than I would have thought for how cold it was outside today.
At any rate, after a brief wait at the front I got seated at a booth in the corner of the main dining area. I chatted with the waitress a little bit, who enthusiastically recommended a few dishes from the menu. I ended up ordering the chorizo omelette and sat back with my River City Reader to wait for my food.
The visual appearance of the dining area in D'Lua is clean and unique. The pointed frame of the ceiling is visible, as well as the dark stained wood throughout the ceiling and the exposed cylindrical HVAC ductwork. Lighting is supplied between the many windows and suspended fixtures that appear to be made of some old repurposed cans or other storage containers, all of which appear to have some sort of incandescent lighting or approximation thereof. The walls along the periphery of the dining area also contain what appears to be repurposed corrugated steel of some sort. It's a neat look - clearly the place has been redone recently but still looks established and aged.
The chorizo omelette was pretty great. I was a little bummed to have not ordered toast with it (I usually get that with eggs of any type) but it was great without them. The eggs were fluffy, the chorizo provided a great spiciness (not hot, just flavorful) and the potatoes were well cooked. All in all, a great way to start a Saturday.
The only drawback to this location is the ambient noise level. This is a general problem for spaces that don't contain a drop ceiling or other sound dampening, and it was present here. Everything just sort of reverberates, leading to people talking louder and resulting in a cacophonous feed back loop or sorts. It bordered on the uncomfortable for me, personally.
All things considered, I'd come back for a return visit for breakfast on the outdoor patio at a future date. D'Lua does great food, and they have a great location in this space right by the Riverfront. Thanks for the great breakfast, D'Lua!
